Attracting Investment and Fostering Innovation
The Tamil Nadu Space Policy offers a range of attractive incentives, including investment promotion subsidies, land cost breaks, and special support for space-focused small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The policy also recognizes the importance of nurturing innovation, with grants available for space pioneers and financial support for space startup ventures.
Building a Strong Ecosystem
The policy goes beyond financial incentives. The Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (#TIDCO) is partnering with private entities to establish crucial infrastructure. One such example is the Trichy-based TREAT facility, which caters to the heavy engineering needs of the space industry. Similar facilities are planned near the upcoming Kulasekarapattinam spaceport to streamline the space industry’s supply chain.
Recognizing the growing demand for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, the policy focuses on supporting their manufacturing within existing industrial hubs and near the new spaceport. The policy acknowledges the specific needs of space manufacturing and categorizes industries based on investment size, offering tailored support periods.
